Lubricated Pistons

"Quite like the constant moving atmosphere."

submission: Lubricated Pistons

However, you've limited yourself. If you want people to be able to dance to it. You've got to keep a constant medium fast beat. Everything else is sound but you've maxed out on the Burt Bacarach factor in that respect!

Think of it as a performance piece rather then a dance piece.

But all it has is raw potential. You need to develop it. Before then, its impossible to give a useful and constructive review.

"Luvvin it."

Great build up great sound, fits the style, best I've seen all day. If its alright, I'd like to DJ it. This is gorgeous. If this was a cookie I'd give it to you but I'd've eated it.

Loving a coupla things especially that really stand out as exceptional (this IS supposed to be a review):

> Sliding and slow attack bass
> Constant imaginative synth tricks.
> Beat development.
> Break downability.
> Vocal crescendo.

Lol, this is very nice, but it lacks development though that seems to be a genre thing. Maybe use some bigger basses. Apart from that it's sounding very fine with plenty variations and a nice 'n dirty mood!

Fucking righteous.

Its pretty nice, but definitely in need of some more stable instruments and atmospherics. Try using some basses and leads with high sustain. Right now this has a nice rhythm, and its interesting but no one can get into it, but still I have faith in you to develop this excellent W.I.P.

Author's Response:

hehe, but as in my comment "song i made while bored".

but you're honest, i like that. i'm still pretty new in creating music, so i'm still developing.

i create music pretty much out of thoughts i have.
thank you :)

Dance Melody - Tom Davies

"Haha not bad!"

date: December 1, 2009

Very NICE! I'm liking this a lot. Yes some more bass would be appreciated, although maybe in order to stick in with the side chaining with the bass drum you have done, maybe just hit the octave above in the gaps, maybe even some tonic octave fifth fills. Oh and longer and more instrumental development. You seem to know what your doing though.

Keep me posted!

Also: SNARE! Side chain with the octave on bass?

PS: Don't take my rating on this as a final rating, its just right now with this being a W.I.P. its difficult to rate it on the standards and measures of finished songs.

Hey man, thanks for your review! :D I've only been using FL studio about 3 days, so i'm kinda figuring out everything at the moment, seeing what i can conjour up. I will take all you have said on board, and hopefully you can hear it in the finished song, thanks!! :D

"Loving it man!"

date: November 15, 2009

Already downloaded and 5d, but I realised I was discourteous enough not to leave a review! I love everything that's going on, and that's A LOT by the way!

However, I have some issues with the mastering (don't take this the wrong way, the constant reworking of the drums, and the changeable melodies are all testament to this songs epicness),; namely just trun the volume down and lower the compression, maybe get a little sparser in places although just turning compression down and lowering the volume should give it the dynamic space to real develop in texture along with the instrumentation. You'll notice as a result of this that it's also of a lot better sound quality!

You've just made me glad to be back, well, you and Alex Jacobii. It's pretty simple and undeveloped, but there in lieth the beauty. Hardcore industrial techno, that I'd love to see developed further, but for now am happy to treat as a PERFECT set intro.

I will be DJing this and spreading the word in the next year, although gigs are infrequent, so there won't be a huge rise in traffic, but by the sound of things you won't need it.

Of course, it's still largely raw potential, though I love the slidity slidey synth with occasional trembly tremolo and big ass drums.

"Vocals! They r teh probz! Always!"

date: November 15, 2009

It's always the same, great drum work, great bass, sometimes even great glitches and scratches, shitty vocals. This is comparitively good, and all that needs perfecting from my stand point, is:
- Turn the vocals WAY down,
- Stick a shit load of fairy dust (reverb for teh n00bs!) on the vocals. This'll add to the chill effect and make the vox less in your face, bringing out the highlights of the piece.
- Errm....
- That's it.

AWESOME drum wrok, chilling atmosphere, the hi hat work is nothing more than inspirational. I'll be watching closely!

"Get some atmospherics in ya!"

Also get some better guitar and bass sounds. THOSE NEED TO BE YOUR TOP EFFING PRIORITIES!

That said, composing shows a great deal of skill, except for the samey drum part which needs less cymbal, and more hi hat work.
