Bring up the drums!

Otherwise solid shit bro!

DJSQUAREPANTS responds:

thats true

WTF JUST HAPPENED?!

Needs harder kick, more filled percussion, deeper bass. My vocals are more messed up than yours though. Not too shabby though :P

DJSQUAREPANTS responds:

im usin sytrus like a pro

Trippy shit!

Not totally sure what just happened... but it had rhythm... :P

Bring up the bass drum though, it needs more kick, and a harder snare IMO, matter of taste though :)

8 & 5 in the hope that others can experience wtf just happened, and because I really like what you just did :P

AirplaneRadio responds:

Thank you very much!

Noice! :D

Like the ideas you have here, but it needs some freakin snare! :P Decent halloweenish stuff though :)

hoppingmad1 responds:

Thanks! I'll add more snare to my other stuff

Not a bad flow

Maybe try keeping yourself further away from the mic or get a popshield, so you can bring your voice up and lose the peaking. Good WIP though.

RonAWalk responds:

Ya thanks. This freestyle I did was before I actually got a popshield. Got one now though. If it was a written i'd do it again haha.

Nice ideas- very creepy!

Perhaps if you brought the synth that's playing Q&A with the guitar up, it'd sound more flowing. Perhaps sidechaining the bass to the bass drum would sound deeper as well. Keep it up!

Thanks nice idea I am not that experienced with side chaining but I do need to learn more on how to do it so I can incorporate that into it. Also my sound manipulation must be good if you thought there was a guitar in this song because there isn't ^_^. Its a piano sound with distortion on it. Which now that I think about it makes it sound like an 80's horror film type of sound.

Reviewer below gave most of what I have to say...

... But i thought I'd lend a hand with what to learn. Cellos and double basses aren't really good for being used like regular bass synths. They need smaller and less frequent jumps, or they'll tend towards sounding disjunct. When percussion comes in, you treat this song like an electronic song and don't really add much else alongside. The string timbres used in classical music are thinner than the ones synths create generally. To keep interest, add wind, brass or piano, and finally, to surmise, a greater wealth of ideas or innovation in modifying current ones is needed.

Put simply, classical music uses very familiar sounds constantly, for this reason it gets boring quicker than music which use artificial ones. More ideas, richer harmonies (7ths 9ths suspensions etc) and greater variation in timbre (instruments used) is needed to combat this.

My two cents along with a 6 and a 4

Excellent insight. I've got very little experience with classical music, and was mostly just using this as a test of a couple of new VSTs.

Yeah, I'd say this is pretty brilliant video game!

Got the right feel definitely, good use of piano, drum, and straight sawtooth/ square (couldn't quite tell which) synths. Love the riffijng, all in all brilliant, but Ima guess you look for more in a review than sycophantic gushing.

I would recommend experimenting with a bass part on the return of the piano, and my general advicce with video game music is just build A MILLION sections. Electronicy, pannicked, wistful, all that stuff for game designers to choose from for each scene. But hey, that's all highly personal and my way is by no means the only way.

As a standalone piece of music, I absolutely adore how much you've put up, but I would prefer to see it expanded and have some more variation, but that's from thestandpoint of a listener and not necessarily a game designer.

All in all well worthy of more attention therefore worthy of a five. Keep at it.

Love and peace.

Thanks for the awesome reviews! I think you're right in saying that there may not be a lot of variety in the things I create. I try to capture how I feel, so maybe I'm just not emotionally complex ;D and that may turn out to be a good thing as life progresses. The bass would be an interesting addition.

Good, nice glitches, but...

MY WILLY IS NOT SMALL!!!!

Take it back plz T.T

IrKuro responds:

AHAAHAHAHAHA, no. You know you're just lying to yourself. I've seen it, after all. ;)

Yeah the saws are pretty G :P

Last track of yours I'll be reviewing today probably, it sounds pretty win, though i would reccomend a fuller bass end of the spectrum :) its sounding good though man :) Very kinda Prodigy in an odd way :) The Saws are bitching though, yeah :)

MisterJayElectro responds:

Hm, Prodigy? I wasn't even going for that, but now I'm honored :) Thanks for the review! I did get a little lazy with my bass; only used two different instruments through the song and didn't vary with the style. I just never thought I'd do good with saws, it surprises me that people like it. Thanks!
