I wish there were more people like you on NG...

Dude...

Maybe spend some more time mixing the levels (everything cept drums down a lil), try altering the clapping (add reverb fade in etc.), try developing the melody to something more catchy (you use it once, I fucking well can!) like restraining it more to m3s, m7s, 5s, 1s, or whatever. Maybe lead with one of the later melodies.

Cheers again for the review!

It was OK...

But, somethings really needed redoing in my opinion man. The use of the filter was cool, and sure it had a nice lil melody, but there was like zero development throughout the song. You through in all your best cards right at the beginning. Sure you died down to the pad halfway, but live i don't think that would really cut any mustard man. Mainly because musically peaking you stuck with the same octave being played at the heart of the piece throughout. For this reason I call it samey, not because there is repetition of a motif, or because there is a repeated melody or synth but because the way this song operates tries to keep every part incredibly smooth. How manyy times have you heard a dj throw in a break, a cut down, a filter to just bass or drums? It is this which in my opinion seperates the boys from the men, the bravery to leave space in the words of Jim Mullen.

A lot of the stuff you quite evidently spent hours over sounded cool, but seriously, you have to give peoples ears a surprise or they just wont remember you, they'll vote high, get picked up then just leave forgetting the song, live people wouldn't wanna scream, they might just stick to the walls to be honest. Still, if I'm gonna vote you down I'll tell you what might of made this completely awesome, as it quite clearly has all the structure and melodic potential.

1) Maybe play the first few notes of the melody over on their own at the beginning.

2) Try sampling hooks into breaks. You can search loop libraries for vocal samples, just little lines like Shirobon's trademark "WE LIK BRK", or the infamous "ALL UR BASE R BELONG 2 US". This could just give people something to get yelling.

3) Around 1:34 try just whacking up a sequence of root notes on the bass and hits on the bass drum, mess with the filters a little, just mess with it.

4) Maybe around 2:04 just cut to the last notes of the melodic line on a treble cut.

This would get you a ten for me, but whatever you wanna do.

Finally! A review!
Thanks so much for the effort to write this!
Its points and tips like this that help to make songs brilliant. I mean, like when you listen to your own song, its hard to find areas of criticism, cause like whatever you make - to you it sounds good right?
So thank you for the advice!
I will do some more work to this and let you know once its been edited.
As ive said, this is an old song, and the editing done was better EQing.
Thanks you a million for the advice and review - I really appreciate it!

When/If i redo this i will give you a shout and let you know!
Once again, thank you :D

Not half bad!

I like the way it worked the melody on one beat and the root notes on the other, you could probably only get away with it on one song, but either way I did like it man! I couldn't last the length of it without it getting on my nerves though, so it didnt really get more than a seven for me.

Thank you for the great review :)
glad you liked it!
this is one of the fist songs I myself cant stop listening to :)

You know what?

Its fun! Its got style! It shows knowledge and originality! Thats gotta be worth something right? It lacks the power to completely make me start dancing on the spot, but I can see why everyone else might.

It built up well....

...but thats all that massively stood out, that aside the use synths was pretty cool, i really enjoyed the piano fill and the vocals were a nice touch! The middle eight was good fun, but I just don't really like the whole industrial meets trance thing, but I am clearly in a minority. Oh wells.

Its good.

But all it is is ambience! You could probably make my top ten fave ambient tracks, but trance? Once the novelty wears off its pretty average. Sorry man, but only a seven/ four from me.

Love & peace.

NINJA SKILLZ!

It must be said, that this kicks very large ass. Very large. Like Oprah. Sure, its a little in your face, but wtf, its immense. How did you get the synths?

HyruleanHyroe responds:

They were all default sounds from FL Studio 7. I actually wish I could find some that fit better :/ But I'm glad you liked! And trust me, Oprah's gonna be sore for weeks.

Nice man!

This is what I like about NGAP! No, it probably needs some more texture, but its still awesome man. Its a little slow, but thats just a matter of what your doing whilst listening to it. Maybe some better drums? Idk. I really likke the way you messed with the treble reductor/ band pass on the synth around 2:30. Minimalistic trance isn't really my kinda style, (just listen to my submissions man!) but you could still tell it was really skilful, and that deserves a 10.
